I hate to fluff my own feathers, but I am certainly a champ at spending money. Put me in almost any store, and I can find things I “need.” Put me in Target and I can really do some damage. But I also score some awesome deals at Target, so I love to shop the beauty aisles there.

Target has good brands, but that’s not what draws me there, because I could always find most of them at either Walmart, Ulta, or Amazon. But what I love is the steals on makeup. When the cosmetic aisles at Target are peppered with those pretty, little, red and white clearance tags (the more layers deep of stickers the better) I try makeup and colors I would never have looked at otherwise. I simply chomp at the bit when I find the sweet combination of clearance items, manufacturer’s coupons, cartwheel deals, Target gift card offers, and Target coupons.

Clearance priced makeup at Target

For example, Target had an offer this week for a free $5 gift card with a $20 purchase of most beauty items. Let’s say that before you head to the store you also print off a manufacturer’s coupon from L’Oreal for $1 off any item. And maybe you also have a “$3 off $15” beauty purchase coupon from your Target Beauty Box. Man, you can do some damage! Especially when there are deals like these:

L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer (Light 302) and Blush (Soft Berry 503 and Soft Peach 501) for $3.26 a piece – regularly $13.19.

L’Oreal Color Riche Balm Pop (Caring Coral 418) for $2.08 – regularly $7.99. – I can’t say enough about L’Oreal’s Color Riche Balms. I have them stashed everywhere for lip “emergencies” (in my car, in the junk drawer, in random hand-bags, etc.)!

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick (Peony 845) and Color Burst Lip Butter (Strawberry Shortcake 080) for $2.08 – regularly $7.99 each. – By the way, I cannot figure out why the Color Burst Lip Butters were on clearance! I am fairly certain these sell well and shouldn’t be discontinued. The Strawberry Shortcake color I picked up is an awesome mid-bright-pink. Crossing my fingers Revlon doesn’t stop making these.

Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Eye Shadow Palette (Mineral Contour and Aquamarine Dream) for $3.60 a piece – regularly $12.

Check out swatches of the Pixi palette in Aquamarine Dream:

From Cover Girl I found Olay CC Cream Eye Rehab Concealer Light/Medium 340, for less than $3! I also found a row of clearance Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Polishes and bought the only neutral color I could find, Daisy Bloom 30, for $1.48.

I’m not sure whether I will use these or give them away, but I couldn’t pass up some Sally Hansen Salon Effect Nail Stickers for $1.94 per pack, down from $6.49.

I found a lot of deals on Maybelline products: Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather Studio Eyeshadow (Creamy Beige 80, Chocolate Suede 95, and Dramatic Black 100), and Color Molten Eye Studio (Nude Rush 300) – for $1.78 a piece – regularly $5.99 and up.

I also picked up a Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Medium Coral 202, for $2.24, and Baby Lip Gloss in Coral Craze 45, for $1.78.

I swatched the Maybelline blush, lip gloss, and some of the eye shadows, below.

I also want to mention a couple of every-day good deals at Target (or other drugstores) on Wet-N-Wild and NYC cosmetics. Even though Wet-N-Wild and NYC are always cheap, if you shop with Cartwheel at Target you can often find extra savings! Wet-N-Wild WildShine Nail Color Protective Base Coat (links to Walgreens.com) is now my favorite drugstore nail product. I usually use Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat or other pinkish strengthening products on my nails. I love the pink glow that shows up in the sunlight from PF Pink Gel Coat. There aren’t many alternatives to PF that offer the glow effect, but this Wet-N-Wild base coat is a bargain pick offering a similar glow (don’t get me wrong – it’s NOT a replacement for PF – it’s not as pink, doesn’t last as long, and needs many coats – but it’s also 1/30th of the price). I originally picked this up because I had a Wet-N-Wild coupon and wanted to buy something. When I saw this polish in the store I had a suspicion it would react to UV rays based on the purplish hue of the clear polish.

Some of the items I hauled this month from Target

Another good deal is Wet-N-Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner. I can tell you from experience that this eyeliner is not going to come off easily — even if you make a mistake while applying it, like I did! Since I prefer eyeliner pencil to liquid (because I make many mistakes:(), I like NYC Cityproof 24 HR Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil even better, and it is also super cheap.

I believe it’s more than evident why I call this blog cosmetichhaulic.com. Nothing replaces the feeling I get from hauling away a whole shopping bag full of makeup (and at a great price). This is my version of mischievous fun that I can pursue and enjoy all by myself. Even if I don’t find anything that “wows” me from a clearance haul, I still love the hunt!

Anyone else out there share this kind of joy?
