10 Brights for 10 Days of Yucky Weather
When the weather forecast shows thunderstorms every day into the next week, I am more bummed than shocked. I predicted this summer would be a repeat of 2011 and I’m not far off track so far. With such little of the precious sunlight I live for, I am reaching into my makeup stash for some brights to keep things cheery.
Check out this post full of fun lip swatches!
These are some of my favorite bright lipsticks:
1
Laura Geller Love Me Dew is a chunky pencil that has a pleasant but subtle vanilla smell. It rolls up and doesn’t need to be sharpened. I like “Watermelon Cooler” the best out of the colors I’ve tried. It’s a cool pink with a mild gloss. It stays on quite a long time for a gloss.

When cheap and fun is on the menu, I suggest checking Maybelline Colorsensational. Wet-n-Wild also makes surprisingly good lipsticks. You’re not going to catch me wearing these often. But they’re in my toy box and it’s time to play!
3
NYC Get It All Lipstick is right there with Maybelline in terms of price (actually it’s even cheaper). And look at the color it lays down!
4
Laura Geller again! Color Brilliance Lustrous Lipstick is a slim tube lipstick that promises lip conditioning. I received this as a promotional item and it’s one of those shades I would never thought of getting for myself. But for a change I like the color “Wink,” which is a warm and pearly shade. I would say it edges into the coral area but Laura Geller describes it as “Yellow Pink.”
5
For that once in an eon occasion when I need a glossy candy apple red lipstick, I hit up Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Pencil in “F-Bomb.” No joke, this stuff has color. Pay. Off. Don’t underestimate it.
6
I won’t even go into it. But Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color is a must-try. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t know what lipstick to use. I’ve swatched and reviewed it here and here and here and here! I love “Cosmic Peony” for a bright pink pop.
7
vBeaute Lip Spread in Kinky. This came in a BeautyFix box a few months ago and I really started to like it. “Kinky” is a bright jelly pink with more saturation than a typical lip gloss but more slip and comfort than a lipstick.
8
Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in Big Apple Red. I also received this as a promotional item from Laura Geller, probably because it’s such a classic. I don’t think you can go wrong with Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick. I think you’re going to love the heavy tube with a magnetic top, and the detail hatchwork on the lipstick itself. It also has a cool sculpt out tip for precise application. Why hasn’t anyone else made tips like this?
9
If you want a brand that dedicates itself to lips and uses top ingredients, look at Bite Beauty. And if you want a lipstick that is so saturated it may make you uncomfortable, check out Amuse Bouche. Bite Beauty Amouse Bouche Lipstick in “Radish.”
10
NYX Butter Lipstick seems to have a cult following. It’s one of those brands that bloggers seem to love. I am not especially partial to it, but I do like this lipstick for its creaminess and range of color options. This is “Razzle Fiesta,” a cool bright purple/pink.
Good luck on keeping your hair smooth during this wet spell.
