I have some exciting news: Bobbi Brown’s Beach fragrance now graces a liquid Hand Wash! If you’ve been a Beach lover for as long as I have then this may be a mixed blessing. At $35 for a 6.7 oz hand wash, it seems like such a serious splurge even for someone who burns Diptyque candles. But now that I have this hand wash I’ll be keeping it hidden away just for myself. (I cringe to imagine what would happen if one of my boys used it — things can get crazy when they start pumping the soap). Washing my hands with Beach Hand Wash is like receiving a mini gift, every single time I do it. It’s a simple pleasure that makes me smile. The scent lingers just enough for my taste. However, I do want to say that the wash itself is nothing special in terms of moisturization or consistency. It’s all about the scent and only about it.

Bobbi Brown does an impeccable job of keeping all Beach products smelling exactly like the original perfume, with no quirks with formula jumps. Be assured that this hand wash smells exactly like the spray, lotion, oil, etc. In that case, this hand wash could be your sole Beach indulgence. And if this hand wash were to be your only Beach scented product, $35 may actually not be such a high price tag after all. By the way, if you’re shopping for Beach, don’t miss this awesome 4 piece set available for $75 right now. It contains a full size Beach EDP and three miniature Beach bath and body products: shower gel, lotion, and scrub.

In keeping with the beach theme, I also brought home two of Bobbi Brown’s new Sunkissed PalettesSunkissed Pink Eye Palette and Sunkissed Gold Eye Palette. These are part of the summer collection, which unsurprisingly has a very “beachy” feel to it. Pink and Gold are actually part of a trio of Sunkissed Palettes, with the third being “Nude.” Bobbi’s site introduces these shadow quads as: “Summer eyes, simplified—three limited edition palettes for eye-opening looks (all season long).”

The Pink Sunkissed palette (“Instantly flattering neutrals plus fresh, beachy pinks“) includes shades: Cream (“a warm white”), Sandy Pink (Shimmer Wash Shadow) (“a light pink”), Beach (Sparkle Shadow) (“a bronzy pink”), and Perfect Brown (“a grey brown”). The Gold quad (“Shimmering gold, sun-warmed copper and sandy nudes“) contains shades Sandy Beige (“a pale beige”), Pink Copper (Sparkle Shadow) (“a rich pink copper sparkle”), Golden Beach (Shimmer Wash Shadow) (“a rich copper gold”), and Rich Caviar (“a rich brown black”). And finally, Nude (“Soft nudes and bronzy, light-catching pinks“) houses shades Bone, Pink Bellini, Rose Gold, and Smokey Brown.

Here I chose to get the palettes at the two ends of the color spectrum and skip Nude, which seemed less exciting to me.

I don’t need to tell you that the Sunkissed Palettes are gorgeous to look at when opened or closed. The compact is a typical size for a Bobbi Brown quad, but the casing is a reflective rose gold color instead of lacquered black or white. There is a mirror inside the compact, which altogether has a satisfying weight to it.

As for the shadows themselves, I was impressed more-so with the lighter shades and the shimmer wash and sparkle shades, than with the dark ones. I would rarely actually use a shadow as dark as “Perfect Brown” or “Rich Caviar,” so it doesn’t bother me that they seemed so very similar to each other in color.

There were some small surprises for me in these palettes. I find that I’m taken out of my comfort range, which it is a good thing. So even though I would not have selected Pink Copper Eye Shadow for myself, now that I’ve tried it I am a fan. The fact that it’s a very warm color has not kept me from admiring the shade in the compact and on myself. I like how it applies and wears. I’ll be doing my best to work it into an eye look for myself. (By the way, I’m still just a novice in the eye shadow application and contouring departments!).

Has anyone out there purchased the Nude version of the Sunkissed Palette? Even though I was sure of my choice at the time to skip it, I’m now wondering what I missed and kind of regretting that I don’t have it. Will you tell me what you think please?

Thanks!

Take care,

-JGG
