Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder (Brick) - Buff

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder – BUFF

Suddenly there’s a ton of excitement in the Bobbi Brown nerve center of my brain. I’ve got Bobbi coded neurons and synapses firing and doing whatever else they do. It’s all because I have in my possession three brand new Bobbi products: 1. Nourishing Lip Color (reviewed here), 2. Extra Lip Tint, and 3. Nude Finish Illuminating Powder (Brick) – Buff, shown below.

This face powder comes in an unusual beige toned compact instead of in Bobbi’s typical black compact. However the size of the compact and outer package felt familiar. You get a non-warping mirror inside this compact, which I appreciate sooo much.

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder is sold in 6 skin matching shades, and I decided that Buff would be my closest match out of these 6:

Porcelain: Alabaster to Cool Sand – Ideal for Very Light to Light skin tones.

Bare: Warm Ivory to Beige – Ideal for Light skin tones.

Nude: Beige to Natural Tan – Ideal for Light to Medium skin tones.

Buff: Warm Natural to Golden Honey – Ideal for Medium skin tones.

Golden: Warm Honey to Warm Almond – Ideal for Medium to Dark skin tones.

Rich: Deep Warm Shades- Ideal for Darkest skin tones

Note: I couldn’t actually find a description for “Rich,” so I wrote in a description based on photo of it.

I first saw this powder advertised as a “hybrid brick,” and due to that unusual title I checked it out. It actually doesn’t say “hybrid” anywhere on the product, but I think that’s a good word to describe what I have here. This powder is part finishing, part illuminating, part correcting and part highlighting powder. If you buy your skin matching tone, you shouldn’t see it on your face as color. However, I am contemplating buying the next darkest shade, Golden, to see how it performs as a bronzer.

Each of the little 6 color squares contains a different shade powder, some being pearlescent and others matte, with varying degrees of color saturation. I plan to swirl the colors together and apply, but you could target individual colors with a small concealer brush.

I swatched the shades individually but had a hard time seeing where each of the 6 colors began and ended on my hands, which is okay since this is a nude finishing powder. Also see the photo of my forearm with an application of all colors swirled together. I used a stiff bronzing brush to apply the color.

I really didn’t need a finishing powder when I bought this product, but as with all of Bobbi’s products I don’t regret the purchase. I plan on going back for “Golden,” and showing that to you all as well!

So, has anyone else tried Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder? What do you think?

I’d love to read your comments!

  1. I am very curious about this product, too. Are you using this on top of a tinted moisturizer?
I am obsessed with Becca rose gold shimmering perfector. If I use this with it, would it be too much?

  2. Hi Julee! After I wash up in the AM I always apply Cotz tinted moisturizer (discussed in the “9 Years… 9 Products I Buy Over Again” post). Right before I applied this new powder brick I didn’t use any primer or extra face makeup, so it should be a fairly “true” representation.
As for using with Becca, I don’t think Bobbi’s powder is going to compete or really add to the shimmer there. I think you’d be safe to layer it! (Bobbi’s new powder is the least shimmery of all of her bricks, and nothing like her shimmer bricks in shimmer nature.
It’s great to get your comment and question! Thanks:) -Jackie
